While while, of course this episode have to come HAHHAHAHA!
I always wanted to go and try the Nasi Lemak store open by my favourite chef, Chef Shen! and just nice, Food King went there to do review on some of the food store and here I am reviewing them HAHAHAHA!
I went to Newton and I reached there about 645pm. Chef Shen Nasi Lemak store open at 5pm and closes at 8.30pm and I thought that 645pm was just nice, confirm still have one. But okay I was so wrong lah, when I reached there, it was sold out and of course I didn't get any.
Then I was thinking what should I have right, and since I was there, can try the food that NOC reviewed.
I went to try the Hokkien Mee.
I love my Hokkien Mee and it is like me go to food at a Hawker Centre, like if have, I will usually go for it.
The queue for the Hokkien Mee wasn't that long. You ordered, pay and take a number and collect when your number have been called.
I managed to get a seat just in front of the store and have to say that the queue is like on going one. I waited for like 10 mins for my food and it is not that long.
I ordered the normal Hokkien Mee and added Lala. The normal Hokkien mee cost about $5 and adding the Lala is $2.
When I received the Hokkien mee, it was like what Aiken and Ryan mentioned, it is really quite underwhelming. It really look like it's not nice and like pretty average.
When I took the first bite, it was good! The seafoody flavours are right in the noodles and not only it taste like the normal Hokkien mee but with the Lala taste as well.
I have to say go with the chili. The chili elevates the flavour profile and it taste must better with it.
The Hokkien mee is not the wet one, where you know you can taste the broth in it, with every spoonful that you take. This is rather the dry one.
The Lala also don't have the sandy taste when you bite into it. The Lala is pretty alot also.
However, I also feel like, there are much better Hokkien mee outside. I think the taste is good, but there are much better choices outside and don't have to come to Newton to have it.
