Food Review Episode 51: Qi House of Sichuan

ivanfenzelyyang

I am not a big fan of mala dishes, but at times, I do craving for them, but also very rarely.

My partner wanted to have Sichuan food and we went to search a few places and I always have good reviews about Qi, and here we went to try it out.

It is located at MBFC. We went on a Saturday evening, and thought that it would alot of people, but it is really not.

I not sure if it is because of the covid restriction or just it is quieter over the weekend.

We look through the menu and they do have alot of stuff actually! It is mainly all the the car dishes.

We ordered 2 meats and 1 maps tofu, cause we were using entertainer app for the 1-1 meat dishes.

Dish 1: Sugar Glazed Ginger and Scallion Beef

When the dish arrived, it smells nice and looks good and look pretty huge.

We expected like beef slices that was cooked with scallion and ginger, but for this, they fried the beef first and it is like the sweet and sour pork kind, but the coating of the flour and the beef is sweet. It doesn't really taste like honey, more like sugar.

I love this dish alot! Cause it is not that spicy and the sugar glazed outer layer helped to lighten the spiciness and also add additional layer to the dish itself.

I also somehow like the beef being fried first, the crispiness is very appetising

Dish 2: Crispy Diced Chongqing Style Chicken with Cashews

I think one of the dish that you have to try or really is everytime I head to like a male store, we will order the crispy diced chicken. It is like a comparison of which store got it better.

How they cooked for this store is is nothing special. However, the chicken is not the super small pieces like other store, like you can see the meat pieces and I prefer it to be like this, cause like you can taste the chicken flavour rather than the small small pieces. The chicken is not as crispy. It is okay only, like normal fried.

We ordered the chicken less spicy cause I cannot take it, and it is edible. I prefer the one at Lokkee but they close down. Theirs is really crispy and really nice. I love it.

Dish 3: Mapo Tofu

When the Mapo tofu came, it was like piping hot, you can still see the bubbling at the side. Yet again, we ordered less spicy.

The tofu is not broken up and like it is like the whole chunk of tofu and that was something nice, like we can mixed it up ourselves.

However, the taste profile not very strong, and it is not like what we use to mapo tofu as. It is quite
