Today, there was a strong craving for Wanton Mee in the morning. I have been always wanting to really do Char Siew too!
I decided to head to the supermarket and get the ingredients! I don't have a oven at home, thus unable to oven the Char Siew, but I found this method using the stove top method and decided to give it a try. It is not as difficult as it seems and sound. If Ivan can cook, so can you!

Ingredients needed to make Char Siew
The ingredients we need for serving of 8 are:

1.) 600g of Pork Shoulder
2.) 1 Teaspoon of Salt
3) 2 Teaspoon of Sesame Oil
4.) 2 Teaspoon of Dark Soya Sauce
5.) 2 Tablespoon of Honey
6.) 2 Tablespoon of Sugar
7.) 2 Tablespoon of Oyster Sauce
8.) 1 Table of Shaoxing Wine
9.) 500ml of Water
10.) Few dashes of Pepper
Steps to make Char Siew (Stove Method)
1.) Add all the ingredients into an air tight container. Marinate the pork shoulder for at least minimally 5-6 hours or the best is overnight. Do remember to keep the meat in an air tight container so that the marinate will be able to get to the meat.
2.) The next day, remove the meat from the fridge and you are ready to prepare to cook the pork shoulder
3.) Cook the pork shoulder on medium heat for about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how tender you like the meat to be.
4.) Once the meat is near to the tenderness you like, you can turn off the heat and transfer the meat into a bowl.

5.) You can reduce the sauce further until a syrupy char siew sauce is formed. I decided to make make back the sauce, so that I can readjust the flavour that I want from the sauce. You will use the sauce to serve it with the char siew later.
6.) I decided to make make back the sauce, so that I can readjust the flavour that I want from the sauce. You will use the sauce to serve it with the char siew later.
7.) I use about we have 2 teaspoon of dark soya sauce, with few dashes of pepper. We will be adding in 3 table spoon of honey, followed by 2 tablespoon of sugar, 2 tablespoon of Oyster sauce, 1 table spoon of Shaoxing Wine, and lastly just 1 cup of water.

8.) Turn the heat to medium high and drizzle some honey on the pork. Sear the meat and adjust the amount of honey and sear marks accordingly to what you like
9.) And with that, our char siew is done, and it is time to enjoy it.
